The Nations
The eight sovereign governments that exist during Galactic Cycle 1342 are: the Confederation (CPS), Tanth, Draconis, the Wolf Alliance, Myr, Cor, the Namhad Council and Saenon.
The Confederated Planetary Systems (Confederation/CPS)
Despite it's near collapse the Confederated Planetary Systems has managed to live through the Chaos wars. It is ruled by a Democratic Republic and currently holds the largest portion of explored territory. The people of the Confederacy are a mix of all races.
Tanth
Tanth is dictatorship. The people of Tanth have strong beliefs in racial purity. They feel the Mahrgrave are a tainted race, rejected by one realm only to arrive as transients in another. The Tanthian people hold such enmity and hatred for the Mahrgrave that their core drive is to completely eradicate the Mahrgrave and everything they represent from this realm. Because of this Mahrgrave are persecuted and have no civil rights in Tanth. Most of the Mahrgrave who lived in Tanth have disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again.
Jzaoleux magic is allowed, although there are no official positions in the government for Jzaoleux magic it may be a pre-requisite for certain positions. Magi are shunned, being an order created by the Mahrgrave.
The people of Tanth are primarily of the Caill Elebharain clan, who left the ancient Mahrgravian host centuries ago, of their own choosing. At this point the Caill lay no claim to the other Elebhar clans. Mor are also prominent throughout Tanth.
The Wolf Alliance
The Wolf Alliance is a Magocracy. Before the Chaos wars began the Wolf Alliance was the first to claim its independence from the CPS. It was able to hold it's claim through a rare Alliance between the Jzaoleux and the Magi. The resulting independence was the spark initiating the Chaos Wars as others attempted to follow in Wolf's footsteps and the CPS tried to old onto it's fraying union. Through the ages, the government in Wolf has evolved to its current state. Arclords from the Magi and Jzaeloeux compose the governing body of Wolf. Although only arcanely adept people are allowed as Arclords, anybody with the ability can claim the right to this title. Within the Arclord body is a democratic republic of sorts, regulated by a series of councils.
Draconis
Draconis is ruled by a Royal Monarchy. Established towards the beginning of the Chaos Wars. Draconis was originally a democratic republic which was poorly managed and near collapse. As the original government of Draconis crumbled a prominent well-liked general declared military rule. Through the following tense months he restructured the government. Although the second government was also a democratic republic, of sorts, he remained in position until his later years, where upon his retirement his son was elected as president. The people of Draconis enjoy their royalty, and eventually the government shifted to a royal monarchy. The Draconian Cavaliers are the only military regiment still under direct influence of the crown. The Cavaliers are a loosely organized unit, acting as spokesmen of law who travel the Draconian realm bringing order peace and tranquility to the people. Cavaliers are exempt from most laws, and although this would be a ripe position for corruption it is generally not (due primarily to its appointed nature. All Cavaliers are chosen by the King or Queen from a host of Stewards who have been in training for many years and are commonly paladins of Dagdanicus).
Myr
Myr is a Matriarchy, ruled by the Elebhar (Elevhar). It was an ancient Elebharain queen who drew the Mahrgrave into this realm. The Elebharain society is completely structured through a Matriarchy. Any Elebharain woman can have any number of husbands (Champions), but on the same hand any Elebharain male can be Champions to several mates. The choosing of a Champion by an Elebharain female is a long and traditional process, usually stretching across decades.
Cor
Cor is an Imperial regime with an Elebhar ruling class, tracing its roots back to before the Namhad Empire. The Legions of Cor are renowned for their military order and viciousness.
Saenon
Saenon is a small state ruled by the Church of Dagdanicus, Father of the Planets. Its continued existence is due primarily by the friendly relations of its two border allies, the CPS and Draconis.
